there's a kid in our afternoon classes that remind me so much of myself when i was in kinder. from time to time, she'd cry and ask for her lola who's in the lobby waiting for her dismissal. the kid's teachers didn't want to give in to her 'lola cries' at first; but they gave in later on after seeing that when she asks for her lola, she just really needed a quick lola fix and will always go back to the room without a fight. she just goes to her lola, hugs or weewees in the bathroom with her, and waves bye with a smile. she now has a limit of two lola breaks per day and the kid's transitioning a lot better since then.

ganun si lola. tumira rin sya sa EWK the whole time i, jai, and owa were in kindergarten, devoting her whole morning for us. we didn't exactly have lola breaks too, but just like that little girl, we're always damn sure that she'd be just there: waiting for us with her toothless grin and tight hugs.

haaaay. i'd give an arm and leg for a lola break right now.

that's why the past weekend has been very difficult for me. mourning cory's death pushed forth my everyday heartbreak of missing lola. seeing cory's funeral and hearing tributes for her kept me thinking 'nung burol ni lola, wala ako. nung pinaparangalan sya, wala ako.'

both cory and lola are examples of women i aspire to be: eloquent, strong, firm, kind, a servant of God, a person for others. haay, working on it. kahit sa 'kind' lang muna. :p

i hope they're having a ball upstairs already. :)
